From 31 August to 3 September 2026, Kassel, Germany, will host the 8th International Conference on Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys (ICFSMA 2026), an important international meeting focused on magnetic shape memory alloys and related functional materials.

The programme will also include an invited lecture by Martin Zelený, presenting results of research carried out at IMSE in collaboration with the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague in the field of modulated martensitic structures of the Ni2MnGa alloy.

The research focuses on the relationships between electronic structure, electron localization, the stability of individual modulated structures, and their elastic properties. Combining computational modelling with a physical description of the mechanisms governing material properties is one of the important research directions pursued at our institute.

The invitation to present this work in the form of an invited lecture highlights the international relevance of the research carried out at IMSE and provides further opportunities to develop collaboration with leading institutions working in the field of magnetic and functional materials.
