Come and explore the fascinating world of Materials Engineering at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (IMSE)!

At IMSE, we believe that the best way to discover a technical field is to experience it firsthand. That is why we offer secondary school students and their teachers a range of opportunities to explore the world of materials, modern technologies, and scientific research.

What can you experience at IMSE?

We have prepared a variety of activities combining fascinating theory with practical demonstrations, experiments, and hands-on experience in our laboratories.

• Tailor-made laboratory tours – Take a look inside our laboratories, explore modern equipment, and discover how we investigate the properties of different materials.
• Project Day: “Can You Change the Properties of Steel with Your Own Hands?” – Try your hand at steel quenching and tempering, measure its hardness and toughness, and explore its internal microstructure.
• Popular science lectures – Discover the fascinating properties of materials, new technologies, and exciting developments in science and engineering.
• Summer School “Discover the World of Materials” – Spend part of your summer exploring, experimenting, and discovering new technologies.
• Cooperation on the Secondary School Research Project (SOČ) – Develop your own research ideas under the guidance of our experts and benefit from the facilities and expertise of a university research institute.
