The Institute of Material Sciences and Engineering aims to educate experts from among students who are able to use knowledge of metallurgy, processing of materials through their structure, mechanical, and other useful properties in practice.
The field of bachelor's and master's studies in materials engineering is mainly focused on metallic materials and their alloys, ceramic materials, composites, and polymer materials. Students' final theses are awarded annually.
The Institute of Materials Science and Engineering is currently divided into 4 departments
Teams of workers were created across the departments, which mainly deal with the following
research areas:
The connecting links for the mentioned directions of research lie in the equipment of the laboratories enabling a comprehensive approach to solving problems, a high scientific and methodical level of experiments, analyses, and measurements, and, of course, the ability to professionally interpret the results.
Missing articles of comprehensively conceived scientific research are supplemented within the framework of cooperation with universities and research organizations in the Czech Republic and abroad and with the institutes of the Academy of Sciences.
The activities of the workplace are closely connected with the activities of the research and development center NETME Center and the activities of the Central European Institute of Technology CEITEC.
The institute organizes basic and specialized courses for workers in metallographic and mechanical laboratories.
