Applied research at IMSE focuses on the utilization of basic research results in the development of new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes with direct industrial applicability. These activities are supported mainly by projects funded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic (MIT), the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), and international projects within the Horizon Europe programme. Key areas of applied research include additive methods for the preparation of metallic graded and functional materials using Cold Spray technology, development of porous ceramic structures for bio-applications, and optimization of material and technological solutions for mechanical engineering applications. Applied research at IMSE is further strengthened through collaboration with industrial partners and involvement in research infrastructures such as NETME, enabling efficient transfer of research results into industrial practice.
